Privacy policy

Share The Word has no ads and no sign-in. Nothing about you is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

On your phone

The app keeps your settings, the verse you are on and the verses you said Amen to on your phone. Verse notifications are scheduled on your phone. This data is included in Android's own device backup if you have backup turned on, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Community Amens

When you say Amen, the verse number and the time are stored in our database (Google Firebase Realtime Database) together with an anonymous ID that the app creates automatically. This keeps the community counts accurate (one Amen per person per verse), shows which verses are Amened most lately, and lets Amens you said in earlier versions of the app appear in your collection.

The anonymous ID is not linked to your name, email address or Google account. Other people see how many people said Amen to a verse, never who.

Usage statistics and crash reports

To improve the app we use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. They collect which features are used (for example that a verse was shared as an image), device information such as model and Android version, an app installation ID, and crash reports. Google may derive an approximate location (country or city) from your IP address. We do not record which verses you read or the words you search for. The Advertising ID is never collected, and ad personalisation signals are turned off.

Gifts

If you choose to support the app, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details.

Deleting your data

In the app, open Settings → Privacy → Erase my data. This removes your Amens from the community counts and deletes your anonymous ID. See Delete your data for other ways to ask us.

Service providers

Google (Firebase and Google Play) processes this data on our behalf. See Google's privacy policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Children

The app is for a general audience. It does not ask anyone, including children, for personal information.
